Director's Bio

FILM AND VIDEO ARTIST, DIRECTOR, ANIMATOR, PRODUCER,  ACTRESS AND ARTISAN, SAN FRANCISCO, CA, USA
Bio
Dee Dee Russell is a multi-media-award-winning filmmaker, animator, actress, and San Francisco Public Cable Access Icon whose weekly show 'DEE DEE TV' has influenced a generation with boundary pushing avant-garde style, her sisterly, razor-sharp wit, and a barrage of ART in all it's forms.

Dee Dee TV
Till April 25, she's spearheading 69 For Six, the global crowdfunding pledge drive!    69 pledge drive videos to 69 celebrities to crowdfund her six documentary film productions...69 For Six. Told you she was avant-garde.

Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and based in San Francisco since the 1980's, Dee Dee is equally at home  on broadcast television (behind and in front of the camera), cyberspace, ensemble theatre, solo theatre, and with animation, wearable art, gallery arts, and performance art.

Says Dee Dee: "As a childhood cartoonist my major influence was Mad Magazine and my tween obsession with the music of Stevie Wonder tenderized the satire. At heart I am a colorful satirist with a lot to say and I use multi media to get the point across. I love public speaking and I prefer directing and editing.
Dee Dee has received critical acclaim as an actress, and has written and starred in several of her own solo plays. She is a dedicated bohemian, web designer, expert editor, and radio host, and has a body of prize-winning work featured on Entertainment TonightPBSNBCCBS, and festivals worldwide. Dee Dee's plays and films have received numerous grants, awards, and critical acclaim, and she has performed coast to coast.
